Our History
This property was purchased in 2014 in a very neglected form. The north 5 acres were basically a motorcycle cross course, the ground was compacted and the only thing that grew were the very hardy weeds! In this side there is also a barn which was originally built in the 1890s which was in a very bad shape.

The barn in this state was a hazard and we were afraid that our curious 9-year-old boy would hurt himself. So the first order of business was to repair the barn. After going through the permitting process – during which we were forced to have to meet the most recent Uniform Building Code for a 120 year old barn – we were patient, endured and the “new barn” was born.

During this time we also had the soil tested and realized of the deficiencies and the learned about the natural remedies. We contacted arbors and tree service companies and offered the north 5 acre as a dump site for their unwanted wood chips. There were piles and piles and we had also purchased a flock of sheep which had lambs and it was funny to watch the lambs chase each other on the mounds – the wood chip piles were left alone for one year to compost and for any foreign disease pests to die off. The piles were then flattened and the composted wood chips along with some mineral additives, e.g. Gypsum, were rototilled into the soil. This broke up the thick clay and also the compost gave beneficial bacteria start the microbial life creating the soil microbiome.
So, over the years animals of various types were purchased. We bought a calf which could be picked up easily to become our tan colored Jersey Milk Cow named Simsim.
Life on the farm for the settlers which migrated from the world created by man – SF Bay area mid peninsula suburban life – to god’s creation and the natural life.
